Like Christmas

I sobbed all night. The alarm went off and I went downstairs to check the porch before getting in the shower. Something made me stop on the landing. I looked in the livingroom and Byron was curled up on the pappasan chair. I swear it was like christmas.

Yay!

Byron is lost

I am inconsolable. My inside-only maine coon cat, Byron, is lost. He got out when my housemate's brother left the door open. I was upstairs and heard his name being called outside. I ran down to find them trying to catch him in the backyard. He was hissing, lunging, etc. He's a demon cat when outside or at the vet. It must be territorial/neutered late/was a rescue behavior. I was close to getting him a few times but he was just too aggressive. Then he went after a stray and I haven't really seen him since. I left his carrier with a blanket from his bed on the porch and just hope, hope, hope he comes home. He's huge so I'm not too worried about other cats but I am worried he will stray too far away for me to find him. In this state he's not friendly enough that someone could bring him inside. It's cold tonight and might snow soon. There are at least a half dozen street cats in my neighborhood. I think some of them have homes but it's hard to tell. He *just* got his rabies shot again last week (let's not mention that I just spent over $300 on him at the vet and that he should have had antibiotics and dinner tonight). I'm sad. His toys are scattered downstairs and the house is too quiet. I really don't think he will come home.

"Good-
You bring together many important passages & draw sound conclusions. The overall argument, however, could be clearer. You could certainly pursue the idea of grief further. Still, a nice start!"

B+

The professor prefaced the paper-handing-back with a speech to the class. "I was really harsh, this wasn't meant to discourage you. Instead, give you clear feedback on what I expect" Woohoo, I got a B+ when he was being harsh. I'm happy. I thought it was a B effort, so it's nice to see where my standards are in relation to the teacher/class.

So, I had an interesting day.

I attended a Women's Senate Network (http://www.dscc.org/wsn/) fundraiser at lunchtime in Cambridge. Claire McCaskill would make great Senator and I hope any Missouri folks vote her in to office. (http://www.claireonline.com/)

Nationally, we are only six seats away, so McCaskill and others are being outspent by the republicans. You don't have to live in a contested state to be involved in changing the guard. It was amazing to be surrounded by people in MA working to get a women elected on the other side of the country. We *need* more women in office.

I wonder if we shouldn't move towards some kind of quota system in the US. We insist that developing democracies have x number of women represented in government. It's about time we see some of that parity here rather than this patriarchy.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf just happened to stop by. Wow, I'm inches away from Liberia's President taking in some of our democratic process. She made a few well-chosen comments before the crowd. I can't really find the right words to describe the visceral reaction I had to looking upon this woman president. I loved it. It felt right and good.

The top reasons I endorse DEVAL PATRICK for Governor of Massachusetts:

*Deval Patrick has a plan for making renewable energy a priority in Massachusetts for consumers and renewable energy providers alike. http://www.devalpatrick.com/issues_environment.cfm

*Deval Patrick has experienced the life-changing potential offered by superlative education opportunities. He has identified the lack of resources dealt to educators in Massachusetts and pledges to help our teachers bring their students to higher levels of achievement and help families afford college.
http://www.devalpatrick.com/issues_education.cfm

* Deval Patrick has an innovative approach to fixing the housing crisis in Massachusetts. He is the only candidate who will give businesses incentives to offer employer-assistance for down payments on starter homes. His plans to promote transit-based development and energy efficiency demonstrate his broad commitment to sustainability.

*Deval Patrick "sees health care as a common good" and is the best candidate to lead health care reform in Massachusetts. He will end the racial and ethnic inequalities in our system. He will cut prescription drug prices. He will work with the legislature for progressive coverage for all residents.

I urge you to visit Deval Patrick's website http://www.devalpatrick.com

asymptotic relationship

or... approaching a value or curve arbirarily closely as some sort of limit is taken. In my empire of number class tonight I was thinking about how this pretty well describes how I live my life. My depression oftens leads me closer and closer to a point of collapse. I'm speaking from a relative "high" just now. My outlook is positive, I feel unburdened...life is good...enough. But I am measuring my quality of life by how slowly the curve tracks me to that evanescence. (Not the holy sort, just the bleak evaporation of identity). I'd rather measure against creativity--how much I can add value to the world.
